AI Tools I Use Every Day: The Real Pros and Cons of ChatGPT & AI Image Generators

AI tools like ChatGPT, MidJourney, and Runway are powerful for everyday content creation, but they’re not perfect. In this post, I break down the pros and cons of using AI image generators and writing tools, from boosting productivity to the frustrations of wasted prompts. AI is great for testing ideas and speeding up workflows, but true quality content still requires human strategy and creativity.

Branding

I use ChatGPT and AI image tools almost daily — even for my small projects. And honestly? I’ve seen both sides of the coin. AI is amazing when it works, but frustrating when it doesn’t.

This isn’t a hype piece or another “AI will replace us” article. This is me keeping it real about how these tools actually perform when you’re trying to create quality content and not just generic material.

Tool 1: ChatGPT

  • Pros:
    • Speeds up brainstorming.
    • Great for first drafts, outlines, and rewriting.
    • Helps organize messy ideas into clear formats.
  • Cons:
    • Sometimes too generic or repetitive.
    • Even the best prompt won’t always give you what you want.
    • Can leave you frustrated when it misses the mark.

💡 My take: It’s like having a fast assistant — useful, but you still have to double-check everything.

Tool 2: MidJourney / AI Image Generators

  • Pros:
    • Can create visuals fast without hiring a designer.
    • Great for storyboards, drafts, or quick mockups.
    • Amazing range of styles and effects.
  • Cons:
    • Inconsistent results (faces, hands, or brand details).
    • Watermarks or credit limits on free versions.
    • No matter how perfect your prompt is, sometimes the output is just… trash, great for blooper reels.

💡 My take: Fun for exploring concepts, but don’t expect Hollywood-level results on the first try. You will have to be patient and persistent.

Tool 3: Runway (AI Video Generation)

  • Pros:
    • Lets you animate images and bring storyboards to life.
    • Adds movement, transitions, and cinematic effects.
    • 'Can' Save tons of editing time for test drafts.
  • Cons:
    • Expensive credits if you’re experimenting too much.
    • Still glitchy with realism and consistency.
    • Video rendering takes more patience (and budget) than images but the same generative process.

💡 My take: Great for rough cuts or concept testing, but not a replacement for professional editing. When you have everything you need FINALLY, then you will have to compile it/editing either using Capcut and/or another video editing tool.

The Bigger Picture

Here’s the reality:

  • AI is a tool, not a replacement.
  • It saves time and sparks ideas, but the human touch is what makes the final product authentic.
  • Some days, I love it. Other days, I’m ready to cuss it out for wasting my damn money 😂.

If you’re expecting perfect, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. But if you see AI as a helper, you’ll appreciate the productivity boost.

Conclusion

AI has its place — and I’ll keep using ChatGPT, MidJourney, and Runway because they make me faster and more creative. But if you want quality, consistent content that represents your brand? That still takes human strategy, skill, and refinement.
